Castaway Cay (pronounced 'key') is Disney's own 1000 acre private island, located in the Bahamas. Disney built a wharf on the island so that the ships could moor there, rather than having the passengers catch a launch boat to get to the island from the ship. Passengers can get to the family beach by taking a tram or walking, a tram takes you to Serenity Bay. Located 225 nautical miles from Disney's year-round home port of Port Canaveral, Fla., Castaway Cay is a pristine island located in the string of Bahamian islands named the Abacos. Stretching 3.1 miles long and 2.2 miles wide, Disney has developed less than 10 percent of the island, allowing the natural beauty to surround guests at every turn. Whether lounging on a sun-drenched beach, participating in a variety of water sports or indulging in the ultimate island barbecue, Castaway Cay offers an authentic tropical experience that every member of the family thinks is just for them.
