Gjesvaerstappan Island lies off the very northern coast of Norway near the North Cape. Look for the kittiwakes, puffins, and guillemots that make their summer homes here. Gjesvaerstappan is a bird sanctuary near the town of Gjesvaer on Mageroya Island, and home to countless species of birds. It is also a group of three small islands. There millions of birds are flying in wide circles. Every year from April to August, two million birds come to nest on its rock shelves.
